Good Power Washing – It’s Not What You Think

There is a lot of information out there on the internet about power washing, and not all of it is reliable. Many companies use the phrases “pressure washing” and “power washing,” interchangeably.  Generally, those companies use a high-powered water wand, which emits a tight stream of water projected under high pressure onto a surface in order to blast the debris.  The fact is, there are various tools and methods involved in a professional approach to cleaning a residential or commercial space, and, most of the time, high-pressure washing isn’t necessary or desired.

Soft Washing Is the Most Powerful Washing

Carolina Power Wash professionals employ tools and techniques to clean surfaces and spaces with a soft wash. We use variations of their techniques based on where it is, what surfaces need washed, what type of stain or debris is to be removed. In addition, we maintain our sensitivity of the surrounding environment. Here are a few facts:

Soft washing – Soft washing is an advanced washing technique we use to effectively clean all exterior surfaces. Rather than blasting surfaces, such as asphalt shinges, painted surfaces and siding, we use high-volume water, state-of-the-art cleaning equipment and specialized detergents, which can more effectively and safely remove organic growth, mold, dirt, mildew, grime, algae, pollen and other hazards.

Safe application – It takes a professional to determine what equipment and detergents can be safely used around delicate landscaping and areas where people and pets might be affected.

Pressure settings –We use pressure settings similar to that of a garden hose, applied by seasoned technicians with years of experience to get excellent cleaning results in a safe manner. Many other washing services use damaging pressure settings, up to 3500 PSI. Using a lower pressure setting is most desirable. It requires a clear understanding of the particular stain removal needed and the surrounding environment in order to be effective.

Concrete washing – The age, type and condition of each concrete surface, whether a patio, sidewalk or driveway, should be taken into consideration while assessing the proper treatment. The type of stains, such as grease or oil, car coolant fluids or other spills, will determine the detergents and approach necessary to safely treat and remove dirt, grime and debris.

Wood surfaces –Wooden decks, porches and fencing require regular maintenance and cleaning. These surfaces are most susceptible to algae, mold and mildew. It’s important to use soft washing for these fragile surfaces and to select the appropriate detergent to kill and prevent bacterial growth, clean dirt away and help restore the natural finish.
