Fall Property Maintenance Checklist: Don’t Be the House on Haunted Hill

The masks and jack o’lanterns have all been packed away but yet your house still looks a little spooky. You could have sworn you pulled down the last of the synthetic webbing, but in the light of day things still look a little less than welcoming around your house. Well, Halloween is over. Let’s help you transform your house from house on the haunted hill into a welcoming oasis.

While fall is great, it really does a number on property maintenance. Leaves begin to fall, cold air and wind snap branches, and jumbo spiders take up residence in every possible corner around your house. It doesn’t help that the days grow shorter. You likely leave for work in the dark and arrive home in the dark. The cold rushes you inside where you’re eager to slip into cozy clothes and sit in front of the fire. We don’t blame you! But how can you keep your house looking great in the fall? Well, we’ve got some tips for you!

Fall Property Maintenance Checklist

Tidy up your lawn.

Though the grass is likely done growing for the season, spend one last Saturday getting things cleaned up. Leaving the grass in a half-grown state of limbo can make your property look unkempt and messy. Keep your lawn looking fresh through the fall and winter by regularly raking leaves and clearing debris.

Clean your gutters.

Aside from looking unsightly, leaving your gutters full of debris can actually wreak havoc on your foundation. Your gutters need to be clear to function correctly and to properly move water away from your house. If yours are looking a little full, we can help you out. Book an appointment here.

Change light bulbs.

As the darkness starts to take over, you may begin to notice that some of your pathway lights are out. Or maybe your front porch light isn’t working properly. Having the exterior of your home well lit is a great way to create an inviting atmosphere but it’s also imperative for maintaining safety. You’ll want to make sure that the lights over every entrance into your home are working properly.

Clear (and clean) your driveway and sidewalk.

Once you’ve blown the last of the leaves from your driveway, you may notice that they’ve left a bit of a stain. This can make your property look dingy and messy, but there’s an easy (and quick!) fix! Call us out to get your driveway (and sidewalk) looking as good as new. You’ll hardly believe how a clean driveway can transform the way your property is presented.

Clean up your front porch.

Now that you have the lights working properly, you may notice that your front porch is riddled with cobwebs and stains. The last thing you want is for dinner guests to arrive and to be creeped out before they even ring the doorbell. Our front porch package is a great way to keep your porch looking great!

Clean your siding.

The heat of the summer can take quite a toll on your siding. Mold, mildew, and algae can accumulate over time due to moisture buildup. Go ahead and get your house soft washed. You can get up to two years out of one appointment. (Worth it, right?)
